Some critics have accused courageous first film Paddy Considine tourism will be misery for the middle classes
Natalie Haynes, broadcaster and critic
So here's my problem with the film director Paddy Considine
Tyrannosaurus
: I think he has an outstanding performance combined with a script of this desolation infinite When we examined a number of critics, had no idea that I could recommend. opens with Joseph (played by Peter Mullan), leaving a Paris office and walking his own dog to death. Hannah (Olivia Colman) is a Christian woman running a charity shop tries to help but raise a violent psychopathic husband (Eddie Marsan). Neighbor Jose - a child - is several times intimidated by the boyfriend of his mother and seems to be in constant danger of vicious dog type. I do not want to give away the conclusion, but there are two ambiguous "nice" characters in the film, which are both physical and emotional abuse. There is a man who is just drunk and racist. And all the other male characters are violent and deadly. I found a shift towards poverty tourist area (and misandry), a film will only show the public of the middle class, asking us to come and see how people live cattle in the farms. I know that all films must be
The Full Monty, but I found the negativity so cruel that I closed. I realized after an hour or two, I did not like what happened to one of the characters: either hated them or pity, and it is not enough Jason Solomons , Observer writer of the film
ProbablyTyrannosaurus is a difficult show. However, the portrait he paints the characters and their environment, not what I would call dark. I'd say it's hopeful and humane, but perhaps I was sitting in my comfortable chair in the screening media land Soho, feel some pity for the poor wretches on the screen and not knowing how much It is difficult for them to get out of hell? But I really do not think that's it. I felt the horror, pain, sadness, but not really too bad. Compassion is a sense of art cheap - the sympathy and empathy are that the demand for good pictures of your viewfinder and Tyrannosaurus have that glass of beer . I admit, I did not want to go to the movies in which I had heard a lot about being dark. However, their main characteristics are honesty and commitment, the director and actors. Perhaps those who accused him of being "poverty porn" does not think it's authentic, but dissatisfaction is not limited to the assets of the Board - Olivia Colman and Eddie Marsan live on a farm the middle class, and their misery is perhaps greater than it is.
: I agree that sympathy and empathy are what art demands of us. But I think Tyrannosaurus not on this front. The script, he drops: the big moment of humanity and the binding occurs in the wake of a man hardly knew Hannah. Suddenly the poor and release to sing in a bar and - like the scene in Educating Rita really brings home no longer belongs to Rita his own family and friends. But now the scene is used ironically - they are very close and it is so isolated - while in
Tyrannosaurus just seems like a cliché: Hannah realizes that it can be safe and happy with them. So I think if you aspire to grains of sand, above all must be realistic. And the idea that Hannah, a woman with a strong Christian faith, has no friend who can in turn is highly unlikely. Has never been to church? I've never met anyone there? I think the plot of the film was to be friends. It's upside down, for my money.
