Project Reality
Next week, Al Gore launched the next phase of its three decades of campaign to warn the world about the dangers of climate change.
Project Reality
climate is to "put the facts on the climate crisis in public participation and large in the conversation on how to solve it." Former Vice President and US Nobel Peace says his campaign has more than five million followers worldwide and will focus on "24 hours of reality" of September 14.As expected, the campaign aims to maximize the power of social networks to maximize the power and reach of its central message. Blogs, Twitter and Facebook are used.
24 presenters. 24 time zones. 13 languages. 1 post. 24 hours of Reality is an event around the world to spread the reality of the climate crisis. Is this a new multimedia presentation created by Al Gore and given every hour for 24 hours, representing all time zones around the world. Every hour people living with the reality of climate change connect the dots between the recent extreme weather events - floods, droughts and storms - and pollution by man changing our climate. We will provide round the clock, around the world to the snapshot of the climate crisis in real time. Holocaust deniers can have millions of dollars to spend, but we have a great advantage. We have reality.
But a writersecurity line was something about the use of social networking campaign is the "uncomfortable". Graham Cluley of NakedSecurity concerned that the climate really is asking supporters to "give" their Twitter accounts and Facebook for 24 hours:
- you should do is allow your application so you can send status messages on Facebook and tweets on your behalf. You will still be able to use social networks as usual - it's only a couple of times per hour, find messages from the Climate Project Reality published under his name, sandwiched between his regular online activity
- . is spam? I admit I'm undecided ... What you hear is just another example of an organization trying to muscle its way into social media, success - ironically, diametrically opposed to what really works. Something that could actually be considered rude, regardless of the web 2.0 version of netiquette is.
- Project Reality
- Perhaps the climate would be better to be so interesting. This way, people reshare content or build on it in an authentic way, which probably would be more appreciated by the followers of followers online.
- After all, there is a more convincing if people can see a bit of effort and passion was training for the event, instead of lounging on the couch with someone and do a Twitter application for them?
I must say that I share the concerns of Cluley. As I wrote before - especially on Foursquare -. Internet security is at best a fragile animal and the idea of ??asking people to donate their accounts online is not, in my opinion, a previous setting is terribly sensitive
But I feel the point of authenticity Cluley is even more valid. I am on Twitter to hear his real voice and not a spam robot, no matter how good intentions of the sender.
