Michael Gove has shown that it takes into account the views of local people for the sacking and replacement of governors of our elementary school
Six months ago I volunteered to become a local authority designated by the Governor of the decline in community primary school in Tottenham, north London. Last Thursday, in line with the BBC to learn that he had been fired. Our board is dissolved without notice and I, a "large corporation" governor is not a parent at school, can not be allowed to set foot inside again. Many of my former colleagues have been reduced to tears, what we have done to deserve being sent to ruthlessly
The reality is that we were victims of our own success. Secretary of State, we had to eliminate the use of its extensive powers under the new law schools, because of the resistance who had made plans to force the school to become an academy. With our parents and led to protests and threats of judicial review, they were in danger of creating a precedent for other schools to oppose a forced conversion of the Academy.
TheMarch 8, shortly after declines Ofsted report was published (which considers inadequate school and placed in special measures), other governors met with officials from the Ministry of Education and Michael Gove have said he was ready to impose the academy command. Under the order of a school may be forced to become a school run by an interim board (IEB).
The following Monday, we wrote to Mr. Gove. We said that we have not ruled out becoming an academy, but is also considered a community school in the control of local authorities a viable option. We wanted to consult the school community about the options before making a decision. Ultimately, we conducted our own newsletter, which showed that 90% of parents who responded were against the conversion academy.
In our letter, we presented our plan to address the serious deficiencies identified in the Ofsted report. We hired a CEO of a leading school in Haringey to help our deputy minister, who had been praised by Ofsted. We encourage our own governors must be protected by the governors at the school outstanding.
We requested more information on the Harris Federation - Government sponsor favorite - and for an explanation of why it is considered appropriate for the descents. He requested the raw data for each academy Harris shows that progress in math and English, especially for disadvantaged children.
- Instead, they were dismissed without answers. Summary justice given by Gove to our board and school Nightingale indicates that the neighbors will not let anything get in the way of his grand design. But there is a big mistake in the treatment of parents and governors who question their plans with blatant disregard.
I have nothing against the Harris Federation, whose career is clearly impressive. We do not accept is the argument that schools are the only way to achieve a good education for our children. There are many outstanding schools in the control of local authorities. How do I manage a school is important, if it is not an academic or local authority is responsible.
