Therefore, the Virginia Commonwealth University research confirms what we have long known: that despite spending huge amounts of money on their health care, Americans are sicker and die younger peoples other nations (report, January 11). Even more surprising is the level of ignorance in the U.S. about how terrible their health compared to other nations. We could look with pity that our own government has not been the introduction of "reforms" that leading us in a style health system that, despite all the evidence which is inefficient and bad for our health and government n ' no electoral mandate. If we want a referendum on Europe, we will have in the "reforms" of the NHS.
United States research is particularly interesting because it shows that even the privileged rates evil white American middle class. Everyone has a health system in which all our resources - and everyone suffers when our health is at the thank you speculators. In Britain, we have built a welfare state based on complex health care and successful socialized, universal benefits and a comprehensive system of social security. How alarming that we are allowing it to be sold to the capitalist locusts. I do not know how we will tell our grandchildren.

• I am very concerned about the reductions proposed by the government, which clearly intended to give the NHS to private companies. In the southwest of England, you can see the beginning of this process that 20 NHS trusts have signed a poster for the express purpose of reducing the terms and conditions of health workers. This happens at a time when the NHS is forced to make massive cuts that will affect patients. An open meeting to discuss NHS changes will take place tomorrow at the University of Bristol and Exeter is an event March 23 to keep the NHS free and in the public sector.
