Haley Sanderson was reduced to tears by Edwina Currie on 5 Live, who asked the young mother of your spending habits
The last time I checked, Edwina Currie has not apologized for his shameful treatment of young, struggling mother of Haley Sanderson Derbyshire during a telephone conversation on 5 Live .
Sanderson told her story eloquently redundancy and maternity leave, stating that there are no benefits, she and her partner to work part time, but even with a huge proportions of late utility bills, often waive the right foods to feed their children. There was no difference. Sanderson was brought to tears by Currie "questions" (in truth, innuendo) on the "real" reasons for their difficult financial situation.
Do you have satellite TV? No. Do they use catalogs? No, not credit cards. Do you have a pet? Yes, a dog. Did you eat every day? I take this, Haley. No, Edwina, who are systematically starving the dog (who, judging by his tone, too poor to deserve) so they can buy ciggies and scratch cards. Do you wanted to hear?
Not that Currie was listening - just pontificate about how people lived "the good life ... life to the fullest," without thinking of the future. For now Sanderson was broken and had a very troubling. It was almost like a time portal had opened five apostasy live to be replaced by a scene of Victorian Britain, with Currie and other notables who sit at a table imperiously, judging by the poor: the decision of who deserved to alms and belonged to the hospice, or even being sent into the streets with their golf clubs and their dogs, to perish by their irresponsible ways .
I better stop there - you could give someone an idea for a new TV. However, this is a typical example of a growth mindset, politicians and former politicians, but also in some sectors of public opinion. Not only that poverty must be tested, should be highly visible and almost theatrical - none of this nonsense about half drowning in utility bills or survival of cornflakes. Not enough to be poor, you should opt for the Victorian "ideal" of poor people who crawl in rags, starving children clinging to her ankles. "Oh, do" we ELP, Currie Lady, lovely lady have mercy! I would lose a bow, but my rickets would not allow it! "
Is this where we are today - people who have to make a real pantomime depletion before any aid or sympathy with them? Otherwise, is this: "They are hungry right?", "Look, mobile phones!" And the clincher: "This is Africa" ??
Well, no, but poverty is relative and how long the poor African cancel our poor? Especially since an increasing number of Britons are turning to food banks and lively debate 5 was caused by a Netmums survey, stating that 70% of families are struggling, with a mother of five, as Sanderson, omitting meals feed their children.
Is "poor" enough or more? Poverty more dramatic, something that can really get excited? Just kidding, but unfortunately it seems that there is an element there that really think this way, it was all enjoy judging people like Sanderson, sarcastic asking "lifestyle" issues such as Currie did. What's the bet the same people who cry savagely the slightest drop in their standard of living?
Hopefully Victoria signifiers of poverty, such as nursing homes, will not return, but that does not mean that people do not have economic problems. Similarly, while the Western definition of poverty may be different from where in Africa, this should not be used as a muzzle social. Finally, Ms. Currie, when people like Haley Sanderson have the courage to speak, should be treated with respect, and not in a way that is: "Sorry, but there
midthe wrong idea -. does not seem to be very difficult to crawl "
Manor vegan athlete? No contest
- hurts me to say, but Peta "boyfriend is vegan and has bottomed Me" campaign video causing all the fuss was poorly designed.
Peta clearly down with the error of Benetton shock advertising fantastic, and we wish you a speedy recovery. But for all the rage, it seems that nobody will look at the central premise of the video -. Namely, a long response to the mockery and ridicule of men tirelessly vegetarians and vegans sex
male vegetables (I will settle, for short) have been ridiculed by the time I remember, in a way that never happens to women. In fact, vegetables have been consistently denounced the men as unattractive, weak cowards, in a way that I thought for a long time is absolute nonsense.
