How do you change the way people think about the dance?

We had people dancing in the laboratory and then to problem solving - and the different types of dance to help with different types of problem solving. We know that when people engage in impromptu dance classes that will help divergent thinking - where there are several answers to a problem. So when they are engaged in highly structured dance that allows your convergent thinking - trying to find the only answer to a problem

You have studied the effects of dance in people with Parkinson's disease ...

Yes, we know that Parkinson's disease develops, it can lead to an interruption of the process of divergent thinking. So we thought if we use an improvised dance with PD group can see an improvement in the skills of divergent thinking is exactly what we saw.

Here's what it's like to study dance as an intervention that has its impact on neural processing. One possibility is that when the dance is the development of new neural pathways to circumvent the blocks dopamine depleted.

dancing How can change the way you think?

have been several studies looking at the self-esteem of ballet dancers in training - and what I found is that girls in the middle of the adolescents had significantly lower self-esteem than non Ballet dancing-girls. There are two explanations for this. One would be that girls with low self-esteem to choose the ballet, because the struggle for perfection reinforces their low self-esteem. Another theory says that the subculture of ballet training can be very damaging to a young self-esteem because they are constantly told they are not going well and that the question of how the body is very important in the ballet.

What explanation do you think right?

Is there a style of dance is good for self esteem?
