Pro bono and access to justice: mind the gap

If the UK follow the example of New York and create a framework for mandatory pro bono legal assistance to fill the void?

Since January 2015, all candidates for the New York bar must have completed at least 50 hours of pro bono legal work. According to Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman, who executed the plan, it will inject 500,000 hours worth of much needed volunteer legal services after the economic crisis in the United States.
