"philosopher" This is a Christian apologist genocide. I prefer to leave an empty chair to share a platform with him

not be embarrassed if you've never heard of William Lane Craig. He walks like a philosopher, but none of the professors of philosophy, I consulted had heard his name. Maybe it's a "theologian." In recent years, Craig has been increasingly insistent in their efforts to convince, harass or defame me in a debate with him. I refused, in the spirit, if not the letter, a response known by the President of the Royal Society:. "It would look great on your resume, not as good as mine"

Craig

recent incursion of criminal harassment took the form of a series of challenges more difficult to face him in Oxford in October. I am happy again reject this started, he and his followers into a frenzy of accusations blogging, Twitter and YouTube cowardice. For that I say I just want to drop hundreds of invitations each year more worthy, I have publicly committed to an archbishop of York, two archbishops of Canterbury, several bishops and the chief rabbi, and I look forward to my imminent, certainly not civilized meeting with the current Archbishop of Canterbury.

In an epitome of the presumption of intimidation, Craig is now proposing to place an empty chair at a stage in Oxford next week to symbolize my absence. The idea of ??taking advantage of another name of complicity to share a stage with him is not new. But what shall we do with this attempt to make my appearance in a round of self-promotion? For transparency, I note that it is not only at Oxford, I see the night Craig proposed a debate with me in absentia: You can also see me, do not appear in Cambridge, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow and, if time permits, Bristol.

But Craig is not only a form of entertainment. It has a dark side, and puts politely. Most of the church these days wisely repudiate the horrible genocide ordered by the God of the Old Testament. Anyone who criticizes the thirst of God for the blood is high unjustly accused of ignoring the historical, literal and naive that was never more than a metaphor or a myth. You should look far to find a preacher modern, ready to defend God's command in Deuteronomy 20: 13-15, to kill all the men in a conquered city, and seize women, children and cattle as booty . And verses 16 and 17 are even worse:

"But in the cities of these peoples that the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, you will save alive nothing that breathes, but you destroy"

One could say that this call to genocide could not come to a good and loving God. Any decent bishop, priest, rabbi or priest agreed. But listen to Craig. It begins with the assertion that the Canaanites were libertines and sinners and deserve to be slaughtered. Then make the lives of children of Canaan.

"Why take the lives of innocent children? The whole terrible destruction, probably, was related to the prohibition of assimilation to the Gentiles by Israel. The complete destruction of the Canaanites control, the Lord says, "Do not marry your daughters to give their son or take their daughters for your son, your son that turn away from following me to serve other gods" (Deuteronomy 7.3 to 4). [ ...] God knew that if these Canaanite children were allowed to live, it would mean the ruin of Israel. [...] On the other hand, if we consider that, like me, the grace of God s extends to those who die in infancy or early, the death of these children was actually their salvation. We are so committed to a naturalistic perspective, land that we forget that those who die are happy to leave this land of joy incomparable sky. Therefore, God does these children no harm to kill himself. "

"So God does wrong to order the destruction of the Canaanites? No Canaanite adults, for they were corrupt and worthy of a trial. No children, for they shall inherit eternal life., De so that the wounded Ironically, I think the hardest part of this whole debate is the apparent wrong done to the Israelis [sic] own men Can you imagine what it would be like having to enter a?. house and kill a wife and terrified children? The brutalizing effect on these Israeli [sic] soldiers is disturbing. "
