community school is probably the most formative for most of us (Many schools just pay lip service to school boards, 13 March). His spirit of participation must be combined with explicit teaching of democracy to accept contributions of students in discussions of management (for example, school boards), but also to encourage students to broader issues of democracy . This includes managing unrealistic expectations about how much the voice of any individual group or a small can.
With the elimination of all imperative behind the representation of students, the government also plans to abandon the mandate to teach democracy in schools, delivered by the Citizenship Education. Statistics democratic disillusionment, such as those recently delivered by democracy YouGov on the test report - show the public faith more and more to lose. The government has the opportunity to correct this by keeping education for democracy through an experience that benefits from student councils. Unless Mr. Gove outweighs the recommendations of the recent revision of the program, a disaster for democracy can occur in the clock of the coalition.

. The coalition plan to scrap regulation of school toilets and washing facilities is a serious threat to the health of children. Facilities for children have standards that adult centers, which should provide soap, hand drying facilities, toilet cubicles and operation. Now the government has scrapped the rule that students have, for a number of services they provide. However, facilities must only be "appropriate." This is too vague to be of use for parents, students, or schools, and means that children entirely without meaningful protection.
school toilets are often unhealthy, poor maintenance and lack of privacy. Inadequate hand washing facilities is a significant risk of infection and unpleasant toilets cause children to avoid going, leading to bladder and bowel problems. The government must ensure that the new regulations provide local school children the same rules as adults like. These basic requirements will be cost or bureaucracy in schools, but compared to the anomaly that the elderly provides protection under the law.
