But the campaign continues its centennial year, with support from around the world. American mathematician chief defenders "outcry in the UK" by the decision

The government gave the initial reluctance to campaign for a pardon for Alan Turing, the father of the brilliant British computer whose career ended in tragedy after a gross indecency conviction, at a time where homosexuality was against the law.

reply to an e-request for forgiveness, but the justice minister, Lord McNally used the above argument to discourage the notion of the House of Lords.

Question of Liberal Democrat Lord Sharkey, if forgiveness is considered to mark the centenary of the birth year of Turing, who is the subject of international scientific celebrations, told his colleagues:

The possibility to grant a posthumous pardon to Mr. Turing was examined by the previous government in 2009.

Following last season, the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown apologized posthumously to Mr. Turing unequivocally on behalf of the government, describing their treatment as "horrible" and "totally unjust. " Brown said that the country has a huge debt. The apology was shown at the end of the Channel 4 documentary celebrating the life of Mr. Turing and achievements which aired November 21, 2011.

a posthumous pardon has not been deemed appropriate as Alan Turing was convicted of what was then a criminal offense. He would have known that his act was unlawful and would be prosecuted.

is tragic that Alan Turing was convicted of a crime that now seems so cruel and senseless, particularly poignant given his outstanding contribution to the war effort. However, the law at the time it takes trial and, as such, the policy has long been accepted that such convictions have taken place and instead of trying to change the historical context and correct what you can not put right, reserve your place you'll never go back to that time.

Turing suffered twice during the episode in 1952 which was followed by the cyanide poisoning death two years later. Its pivotal role in the codebreaking center at Bletchley Park during the war could not be disclosed to anyone, including colleagues at Manchester University, he built the first modern computer.

Professor Barry Cooper, University of Leeds, an eminent mathematician who chairs the centennial celebrations, said:

It's very disappointing - but we consider only a first attempt to put the dispute between the tall grass. Turing had a truly remarkable spirit and we can only guess what progress the UK has lost by his tragic death. It would be a precedent, but welcome all those who suffered lesser known misfortune and unhappiness similar to a time very different from ours.
