The Labour Party has a proud tradition of male solidarity, but now must help create a new settlement between the sexes
There is a debate that takes place in the Labour Party on men and women's relationships. Diane Abbott has thrown at him, criticize and accuse me of working blue say that all women need is a faithful man. I never said that, but I'm sure most women want a faithful husband or partner. And men want the same thing for women. Love, understanding, friendship, kindness and a relationship that is mutual
But love and intimacy are closely linked in the power relations between men and women, and there is a darker side of gender relations. Feminism has cast a powerful light on male sexual violence in our masculinity and male dominance over women. When women assert their autonomy, their sense of self and human identity can be threatened. But this is not the whole story. Many people welcome the equality of women and feminism support it has provided the opportunity to talk about relationships, masculinity, fatherhood, love and sex. He helped modern humans, more involved in the love of family life and relationships.
- Today, the tradition of male solidarity work in its place in our culture more democratic equality. Over the past three decades, the lives of many men have changed forever, especially men who have lost their jobs due to deindustrialization. Men's earnings have stagnated, and the "family wage" old disappeared. For a growing number of men of the working class and middle class the traditional role of breadwinner and head of household is inaccessible. Low wages and lack of affordable housing has become increasingly difficult for many young people to create an independent life of their own. Traditional rites of passage into adulthood - leaving home, getting a job, creating a family, and assume legal obligations and rights - go
emotional life is at the heart of the ties between people and society as a whole and the policy must be in harmony with them or not. Labour debate about men and relationships of women, the good, the bad and the paradoxical, is a step in the right direction.
