Captain MS Dhoni came

increased Alastair Cook finally cut loose some great moments of 2011

memories are made of this

Christmas is coming. The geese are fat, the streets are crowded and frenetic, and journalists around the world are busy making lists of things that have happened over the last 12 months. A selection of Spin, a walk through my fondest memories of 2011. Most of them appear to come from the World Cup, but that's where I saw most of my cricket this year and I'm sure everyone will help me fill in the gaps and remnants that have lost their own decisions.

Sydney, January 07, Australia v England, fifth Test

"came by the thousands to form a corner of an English camp for foreigners culmination of a day of days in the history of England, and one of the abject poverty of a proud Australian team once run-down. Not even pressure washing rain to stop the game and a team clearly on the field, negate the third landslide victory, which came in turn and runs 83, 11.56, four minutes before the shipping forecast, and as Billy Barmy trumpet played a poignant message loss last cricket in Australia. Sachin

Strauss and not to counterpoint

Bangalore, Feb. 27, England v India

was the sound that stayed with me, so hard that the windows of the press seemed to ring and vibrate at its accessories. The enthusiastic shouts of worship that accompanied each and every one of Sachin Tendulkar 120 runs led to sky-lit room, taken by millions of people across India. England were 339 for, and were left without a prayer to get there. Then came Andrew Strauss. His 158 is the only century he scored in international cricket this year, but it was once one of the very best tickets ever played by an Englishman in a one-day international. However, England was still in need of more than 14 of the final. A final of the ball, left with a draw. It was a blockbuster of a game, with a cast of millions of pieces and stuffed with absurd twists.

O'Brien arrives at the best century in World Cup

Bengaluru, March 2, England vs Ireland

Four days later, England has proven to be a farce and tragedy, when they were humiliated by Ireland in this task. Ireland, chasing 328, 106 were four years ago when Kevin O'Brien came to the bay. He spent last season playing for the Union of Railways (no, me neither) in the Leinster Premier League. But then, as he says, laughing in disbelief at his press conference after the game, which tends to play the same way regardless of the stage or situation: "I used to try play well in the garden with my brother Niall. "The English fans on the floor and the press barely noticed his first six. His second question raised a few laughs. His third caused some condescending suggestions that it was good to see the show some Irish startup. For its fourth started eyebrows furrow. By the time he hit his fifth and sixth, we were all sitting with their mouths open, nose in the carnage unfolds before us.

Sachin and Sehwag

firefight with South Africa

Nagpur, March 12, India v South Africa

Until you looked at the dashboard that had actually forgotten that I came to India to lose the match by three wickets. Some feat, for he had won the toss and scored a 267 in front of their income was 40 overs old. But he was in the first 17 overs of the game stand out. Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar produced some of the most gloriously swashbuckling hits ever seen on a cricket field. He was the class of attacks that have faced the opening that makes special: Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel. It was the kind of clash of heavyweights, resonate with the thunder and fury and violence, that cricket seems so often the lack of the modern era. Steyn first ball was 94.8 miles per hour, fully and directly. Sehwag has hit the mid-four. It was a shot that went straight through the roof of South Africa, not on top of it. Steyn first four overs cost 34, 35 Morkel is. India 100 from 72 balls.

last memories of an old pro

Dhaka, March 25, New Zealand v South Africa

three quarters of the way through the quarter-finals, there was only one man in Mirpur who still thought that New Zealand will win.

It was Peter Roebuck. Given that Australia will play India in Ahmedabad, 1.132 miles, Roebuck should not have been in this game at all. But he had made a mistake in calculating your route. With the prospect of spending a week in Dhaka to cover a game that was not relevant to their work, most of the correspondents who took the first plane. But being the man he was, Roebuck decided to stay in Bangladesh anyway because I had never been there before and I wanted to make their own decision on the country and its cricket. I recall standing on the terrace of the press room at his straw hat, his court a herd of Bangladesh journalists who were waiting in each word. ("Please Mr. Roebuck," We like to think that you ask, "How was it really like playing with Colin Harrow?"). In South Africa match itself was 108 for two hunting 221 with Jacques Kallis and AB de Villiers 47, 25. "Well, that's all," said Roebuck all in line for dinner. "I'm not so sure," he replied. Of course he was right. He gave me a quick smile when I told him later. It was the last time we talked.

Afridi sports Mohali, March 30, India v Pakistan

Mohali was a nest of vipers, with many great local flights at the airport issued an edict that private jets can pick up and drop, and had to be stationed at Delhi instead. Playing in front of the Prime Ministers of both countries, India beat Pakistan by 29 runs. And after all the hype and commotion, riot and noise, Pakistan, Shahid Afridi the captain sat, smiled and said simply: ".. I congratulate the team of India and the nation whole, I think we deserved to win "

Is MS Dhoni has really to promote the World Cup final? And he was really in the middle of some of the most deplorable conditions of his career? And he made the score 91-79 balls? And you can actually finished the game with a six to win his team the World Cup? Or did I dream that?
